Uitzendbureau Randstad: “DataChecker "had the onboarding process sorted out within six weeks"
DThe Randstad Group Netherlands (RGN) has been a leader in the job market for 60 years. It helps people find work and shape their careers. In doing so, it provides flawless onboarding with online identification and verification being of great importance. Randstad, one of the largest players in the Temporary Employment Industry, has been happily using the comprehensive solution from DataChecker. Head of ICT of Randstad, Hans Hoogerhuis, explains why DataChecker is so important, especially now that our country is dealing with new refugees who are eager to work.
Randstad works with the Right to Work-inspection of DataChecker, which verifies that identification and employment documents comply with Dutch law. Both processes are partly automated and partly manual. Not only does the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tool from DataChecker In addition to automatically determining whether documents are “genuine,” a document expert also verifies the document manually by checking for authenticity features. For example, DataChecker the assurance that the documents are legitimate.
DataChecker The best partner with a unique comprehensive solution
DataChecker "is the best partner for this because it offers a unique, comprehensive solution."
Focus on Full System Integration
De start van de samenwerking tussen Randstad en DataChecker was on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hoogerhuis: “DataChecker had the existing onboarding process set up within six weeks in the summer of 2019. The focus was on fully integrating both of our systems. So not just ID Verification, but also Right to Work"-control. Then COVID-19 hit and changed the world overnight.”
“Our in-person contact with new employees came to an end, and the onboarding process had to be fully digitized. In that regard as well, DataChecker made a tremendous leap forward: within a few weeks, we were fully operational digitally, onboarding several thousand people a day—three times as many as we could previously handle. In addition, DataChecker "It also helps us update our customer files; the extracted data is fed back into our CRM system via a callback."
The Triangle of Convenience, User Experience, and Security
So far, the COVID-19 pandemic appears to be on the decline, so face-to-face contact is easier again. Hoogerhuis: “We want to be able to continue working smoothly and safely. The verification requirement, retention requirement, and duty of care must all be in order. In doing so, we operate within the triangle of convenience, user experience, and security.”
Young people like to use fingerprint or facial recognition on their smartphones, but the onboarding process with biometric verification is not permitted by law. As an organization, you are therefore constantly looking for the best solution in terms of ease of use, and DataChecker "always works with us to find solutions."
Partnership
Hoogerhuis also notes that the collaboration with DataChecker has significantly improved the business operations of Randstad: “Work is carried out quickly and reliably, and the digital systems are user-friendly. I am therefore optimistic about the future of our collaboration. We must always keep tweaking the controls to do even better. However, the overall process actually does not need to change. We continuously look together at how we can further optimize all steps in the chain.”
Employment Trends
This also applies to a new challenge at Randstad: the influx of Ukrainians eager to roll up their sleeves in the Netherlands. Since it became known that refugees were allowed to work freely in the Netherlands, verification requests have been approved based on certain standards. In consultation with Randstad, DataChecker adjusted the process so that ID documents could be approved in combination with a UWV application. DataChecker regularly advises Randstad on market developments, adjusting work processes where necessary.
Influx of refugees
One of these is the process surrounding a residence sticker issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) to third-country nationals who have fled from Ukraine. This sticker is valid until early March 2023. Therefore, in addition to a registration form from the UWV and a passport, an IND sticker in the passport must now also be presented by Randstad. DataChecker has already capitalized on this new development by Right to Work-verification to check whether all documentation is available and whether these people can get to work via Randstad.
Hans Hoogerhuis: The collaboration with DataChecker remains pleasant and goal-oriented, even in the changing labor market. They always understand with just a few words and know exactly how open communication helps Randstad work smarter!
